Disgusting behaviour. The force say they are trying to ID the copper. Can't be too hard from that photo, surely?

The cop made him remove the whole word...surely just removing the "o" would have done it?

Actually, I remember a court case in the 70's where a judge ruled the word was not offensive.

Aggressive and over-zealous, no?

Old story, but yes the word is acceptable and the officer was in the wrong.

Yeah, sorry, meant to say it was old. Just got the link from that friendly guy Mr Google and clicked on it and it went straight to that story. Now it's broken???

Don't understand that.

Law changed in 2014, the word "insulting" was dropped to allow greater freedom of speech. Its all defined in this case

Yeah, I found that. But even without it, one could argue with the copper using the legal case from the 70's that it is not offensive.
Honestly, you can't trust any coppers these days. They're supposed to uphold the law of the land (even if they may not agree with it).
Instead it seems that if they don't personally like what people are doing (even if it's lawful), like photography, they try to do and say anything to get the "wrong-doers" to stop.

It's not right.

Indeed, some cops seem to have forgotten their role is uphold the law, and not to make their own "laws" up.

This is yet another example of how bad the police are these days, many do not uphold the law - they try to uphold whatever they feel like.
If you are doing nothing illegal and are maintaining your rights they will twist is and come up with some BS - and if you still object then you are treated even worse.
There are so many examples of it on social media platforms.

:(

Police learn law by procedure and experience and get minimal training.
