Back to School!

But then we didn't lockdown for MERS or SARS.

No, but then it seems that MERS/SARS was not as easily transmitted. Probably due to less asymptomatic cases, and shorter incubation periods. So much easier to contain. And, many people in the Far East never stopped wearing masks, which probably helped a lot this time round.

you know what other people see when you bury your head in the sand right?
an ars3hole.

Back to throwing insults! Why not engage in the discussion and explain why you think this virus was made in a lab in China?

how do you know they don’t have a vaccine?
A. they would not have shut down their economy if they had a vaccine
B. they would be selling it to the rest of the world, claiming to have developed one quickly

A. Depends to what extent China has shut down its economy. For effectiveness, or for show?
B. Countries fight wars to dominate other countries. China is in competition with the rest of the world, and is not well - known for its humanitarian leanings.
Why would they sell a vaccine for a quick buck, when they can cripple their competitors, potentially for years?

Gotta love the conspiracy theories!!

China's economy relies on it selling stuff to the rest of the world. If the world's economy crashes, the orders stop, and China suffers.

If you want to find a culprit, then look to Russia, not China!

China's double bluff of having a lockdown, which was not needed because they had a vaccine all the time, didn't work. Mottie and Brigadier sussed 'em.

Just been reading on the BBC News app.....

"Risk to children is tiny".

"Of 651 children admitted to hospital with covid19, only 18% were admitted to intensive care."

Doesn't seem like great odds to me.

How many school age children are there in the U.K. and how many school age children have actually died of covid? That seems a fairer way of working out a percentage of schoolchildren that are in danger of dying of it.

but we all know that the danger is not to the kids, it's to the adults they pass it on to.

Seems like elderly and vulnerable people will just have to live in isolation for the rest of their days.

The study concluded that 6 children had died of covid 19. All had serious underlying health conditions.

But that's not the point, they can spread the virus to the wider community.

Either way, schools need to open. It'll be chaos, with outbreaks and schools shutting down every week. If a hundred or so people in a food factory (Greggs is the latest) cannot stop an outbreak with masks and social distancing, what chance is there for a school with 1200 kids?

Also consider that in the above figures, the kids have been mixing a huge lot less than they will be, given that the period in question was lockdown, and no schools open (barring very limited exceptions).

Talking to a shop keeper yesterday.

He way saying that, when the schools reopen , there will almost certainly be an uptick in the virus.
So , some other part of the economy will be shut down, to mitigate it.
He reckoned it would be pubs first but, if it were shops as well, he'd "be f####d".
