My Mum had to buy me trousers that would fit me at 16 and take them up and in.

Every so often, I had to let some stitches out to make the waist bigger and the legs longer. And if they got damaged, they got patched up.

That way, five pairs of trousers lasted me 5 years. They were better quality in the 70's.

How many of us parents said, when we had our first child, "they're not getting spoiled"?
And then you find yourself justifying better - than - is - really - necessary?

Depends on how good a pesterer they are. My eldest is truly world class.

My kids never pestered, or demanded. Truth be told, me and the missus probably projected (subconsciously) our wants onto them.....

Lucky you. Mine learnt it from my ex wife (probably!) Actually, that's unfair, it's only my eldest, the other two don't ask for a lot, usually.
