Exactly why it's not comparable. These citizens had no intention of breaking and entering.

My uncle and his family escaped Belgium for the USA . After registering at Ellis Island they were shipped to the Philippines as America had its quota of Jews .

Still far better than dealing with the Nazis.

Hence you are made illegal by doing what you have a legal right to do, ie claim asylum..that is exactly what the nazis did...removed the legal right to existing...

The UK should automatically refuse asylum for those that come over on dinghy's but set up some form of asylum processing system in France and let the French house them until a decision is reached? Any that then cross the channel in a dinghy can be shipped straight back and lose the right to claim. Or is that too simple?

Need the agreement of France for that.

When in the past I've applied for visa it's had to be done in a 3rd county.

For India it was Nepal
For Canadian work visa it was Buffalo
Australia work visa Bangkok

Can it not work like that?
