Energy Bills

Nuclear would take a decade and cost roughly what Gas does now.

Fracking would help energy security but not prices and take five years or so, and be abandoned as it won't be compatible with net zero and more expensive than other sources of gas.

Otherwise, yeah why not.
and what will gas cost in a decade ? and we will always need gas for plastics

Security is just as important as cost

Probably a lot, once you start losing the economies of scale the price is likely to go up. Just like Petrol.

For plastics there's artificial hydrocarbons from hydrogen. It's already being done at pilot scale and theres billions invested in new factories.

The main reason we don't get more gas out of the north sea is profitablilty, if there was enough money to be made there would be more platforms under construction.

Just been on to EDF, with them since utility point went under. Trying to find out where my credit from UP is, turns out they have used it to keep my DD payments low at about £70 per month for gas and electric, going up to £180 a month this month, then possibly £328 a month if I had it fixed for 2 years. Won't be doing that, prices should fall eventually. What gets me is the 41p (elec) and 27p (gas) standing charge per day, that's £250 a year!

log in to your edf account and go to bills and payments and that will tell you all transactions plus and minus and how much

an enemy could take it a huge part of our energy supply now just by sending small explosive subs to each wind turbine .... I wonder if they've planned for this?

Or cut the interconnect wires. Or blow up gas storage or oil storage, or some gas/oil pipelines. Generally distributed, non explosives, generation is probably best

the energy infra structure is regularly patrolled by armed officers and sniffer dogs etc in the past there has been several thwarted bombing attempts that are never made public and when certain work is done on the main national gas transmission pipelines armed officers are on duty

How do the dogs sniff under water?
;)

We've just moved house so our estimated bills will be more than they're predicting anyway but we've gone from estimated £2000 to about £3000/year. I knew it was coming but jeez.

Tory appears to want the UK go in the same direction.
Do you mean Tory, as in Tory government? The Tories brought the minimum space standard into law in 2015, which is fairly rigorously applied through planning development control and has increased the minimum size of dwellings quite significantly. Just saying.

with the up coming increases in bills if you have an old style meter give them a reading higher than what you have actually used and get it at the lower price
