That's a good point but you can't have it both ways and I don't think that is what you really believe.
It's as if you are saying that Jesus was just a very good person who promoted socialist ideals which boil down to common sense for living a good life.
However, that would mean you reject all the stories later written about him - the bible.
That is - he is not the son of god, but in fact just Joseph's son.
No angel Gabriel, no virgin birth, no miracles, no rising from the dead, no eternal life if you follow him etc., etc.
In fact he was just used by the religious nutters of the time to promote their nonsensical beliefs by scaring the peasants; just like you do.
