fines for middle lane hogging

I was wondering how much carnage you've caused on the motorways Joe, you realize that if you're doing a steady 70mph as indicated by your speedo you are in actual fact probably doing 65 as manufacturers err on the side of caution, the guy behind you is ever so slowly creeping up on you, his speedo is also reading 70, he eases off, this causes the guy behind him to brake a bit, so he's down to 63 and like a chain reaction everyone else has to brake, each one a little harder than the one in front, half a mile back they're at a standstill, even the young girl who only passed her test a week previous, she's at a standstill as she didn't even see it coming, her blood smeared all over the smashed windscreen, good one Joe, ACCIDENTS DON'T HAPPEN, THEY ARE CAUSED!

Don't be silly. I know the accuracy of my speedo and that if I drive at about 75mph on the dial I'll be doing 70mph on the road. I'm almost always in a convoy of other cars doing the same speed. It's just idiots that want me to move aside to let them speed in the middle lane whilst HOGGING it. It ain't gonna happen mate. Get over it. Nothing has changed other than you'll get a ticket for tailgating.

Is it not reasonable to expect other road users to stick to the speed limit then?

absolutely not a limit is just that a limit and safer driving could be anywhere slower than that at times. In fog or heavy rain or high winds or icy and snowy conditions.

Took my family on holiday once and was caught in a torrential downpour causing flash flooding. The wipers were barely clearing the windscreen and there was a great danger of aquaplaning so I slowed down to 40mph in the inside lane and was disgusted to be overtaken by HGVs still driving to their max limited 60mph.

Same with fog. I slow down way under the limit while others continue to blast past at stupid speeds.

Safe driving isn't all about speed its all about appropriate speed and awareness.

Joe is probably what I call a 'one speed willy' whos 70mph because that is the legal limit is how fast he drives regardless of conditions.

One dangerous driver I consider is the one speed willy who firstly thinks 40mph is fine on a single trunk road. These people think nothing of generating huge tailbacks and even have the gall to flash their lights at people who overtake them. They don't consider of course pulling over to let traffic past as a courtesy because like Joe they generate some kind of self righteous zeal that overcomes manners and common sense. These same 40mph one speeders then amaze when the road hits a 30mph zone and their speed doesn't change and they continue through at 40mph. The rank hypocrisy of their driving really takes the biscuit.

No middle lane hoggers , FLOG the HOGGER! thats what I say

Oh no you wont you will be SPEEDING.

Usual speedometer declination is 6% optimistic.

So your 'safe' 75mph will be 70.775mph you reckless fool...

(Just as an aside since speeds read 6% optimistically then surely you are having your services too early and your mileage improperly recorded for all sorts of reasons.
A 100,000 mile warranty should in effect last until the car has a recorded 106,000 miles on the clock.)

You can miss a 40,000 mile service by 2,400 miles and you are still technically within your agreed service interval.

The garages and manufacturers are exploiting a huge anomoly here.

Do you use the idiot lane on the right? If not - then why not?

If so - then shut the fook up and stop whining.

Ha ha ha lol . . you actually think that the government built a lane on the motorway JUST for YOU... and that everyone else ie all the idiots have to share the lane YOU have deemed to allow them to use...

Incredible , absolutely incredible.

You wouldn't hold me up Joe , can't be done sorry. Where there's a will there's MY WAY..toot toot

:D

How many posts have we got to on this subject and you still haven't grasped the mechanics of road traffic behaviour have you Joe...

One into two does not go.
Forcing two lanes of traffic into one lane has consequences , mainly safety related.

I dont go around bumping into other cars Joe but then again I never stay in a lane with traffic catching me up from behind .

A study of driving behaviour concluded that YOU are getting OLD Joe . lol

'But their 'compensation strategy' of avoiding too many changes in direction would appear to chime with those who defend middle-lane driving on motorways as preferable to what they regard as 'dodging in and out.' Dr Richard Wilkie who supervised the project, says that the use of wing mirrors and judging distances when changing motorway lanes are the sort of manoeuvres which older drivers appear to use cautiously because of reduced skill. '

You need to either get younger or stop driving . . lol

I use ALL three lanes Joe all three I have even done over the speed limit on the GASP !!! 'slow lane'.

I even use YOUR lane when you aren't looking....my bad :D

Well what's your problem then? If the middle lane is full of cars doing 70mph - then either join the convoy or use the idiot lane for illegal speeders on the right. Now stop bellyaching FFS.

Congratulation Itshere, you have won the argument, how do I know you ask? Simple Joe can't answer anymore, he just keeps frothing at the mouth and blethering the same thing over and over, perhaps he suffers from altzheimers.

Who's bellyaching . . .not me. I am actually in hysterics.

You are like Rumplestiltskin jumping up and down till you fall through the floor because someone has just taken away your 'special' privilege to hold me up.

Anyone in the middle lane when they should not be will get a blast on my horn from now on as I rightly use it to warn other road users of my presence under the rules of the highway code.
You better get some earplugs and start saving up for your fines..lol...hahahahahahaha :D

The argument was won as soon as middle lane hogging was made illegal. Everything else has just been crying over spilt milk. :)
