Learn as I go DIYer. Pick things up here and there, do a lot of research and "help" mates on jobs (as in go along and get in the way and ask questions) to pick stuff up.

Renovating my house alone because I'm too skint to pay anyone to do it. It takes a while when you're learning but I'm getting there.

Obviously we're in the wooden flooring trade (supply & install) from basic 3-strip to design parquet floors and everything in between.

Space shuttle pilot but I don't get too many flights nowadays so I plumb in my spare time.
 
Served an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker , then went into joinery and carpentry.
Unfortunately spent the last twenty years of my working life in management in the building trade.
If only!
