RANTALERTRANTALERTRANTALERTRANTALERTRANTALERTRANTALERT

I drive a Connect for work, but I'm so glad I don't own a Ford privately.

While in Sheffield, some scrote nicked (yes, nicked) the n/s mirror glass. Waste of time because he broke it getting it off.

So on the way home, I dropped in at my local Ford dealer. It was 1652 when I arrived.

I asked the girl behind the desk to order a new glass for me.

Her: Sorry, can't do that, parts are shut. To order it I need the part number. Come back on Monday morning.

Me: Can't you ring your sister dealers and get the number from them?

Her: Sorry, they shut at 1700. Come back on Monday morning.

Me: But it's only 1655. Look I appreciate it's nearly 5 o'clock on a Friday, but I need your help. As long as I drive this van without a mirror, I am not road-legal.

Her: [Huge shrug.] I suppose I can try...

Me: Boy, am I glad I don't own a Ford myself.

Her: There's no need to be rude...

Me:[Having walked round the showroom] It says here if I'm not happy to tell someone. Guess what? I'm not happy.

Her: The manager is not here at the moment.

Me: How convenient. I will ring him. Monday morning OK?

Gimme strength...

Another strange thing: Don't Ford want to sell their new Mondeo?

All the Ford showrooms I've been in (three recently) don't have one on display.

Have to admit, I cant knock ford service dept - they have always been very efficient and reasonably priced (for a main dealer). They replaced the glow plug seals in my fiesta for about £120 all in. Not a bad deal, tbh. And their windscreen wipers are cheaper and better than the expensive Bosch ones from Halfrauds (they failed the MOT after about 5 months of summer driving - ok it was a wet summer but still, i didnt pay £20 for 2 wipers and expect them to wear out so quick!!!) £7 for both wipers at ford, IIRC.

In my schooldays in the 70's, we used to chant,

"Fords are frauds, four wheels and a board..."
