Give Boris Some Credit

That's an interesting opinion.

Did you make it up yourself, or hear it somewhere?
No. I personally know many people that bought their houses from the council in Newham which as you know is a typical Labour stronghold. Some even converted to Toryism once they became property holders.

That was Maggies plan all along and it worked

According to reports, we are going to have a 14 day 'self isolation' period imposed on visitors or residents returning. But not until the end of the month!
If it's that vital, then why wait another 3 weeks? And why wasn't it done ages ago as in other countries?

They reckon there is no point in doing that until numbers are low  Suppose that is true in part providing they maintain distances but I assume a lot will be on business wanting face to face discussions with some one. I'd have thought holidays here would be off for a while. A well packed plane load came in from Ireland recently some returning to work. The airlines have the wobbles about long isolation periods when people arrive for obvious reasons. Ryanair argue that distancing on aircraft is pointless due to recirculated air. Trains and buses etc may be being sterilised daily.

C4 showed the instructions they get here - nice piece of paper telling them to. China make sure they do. Korea has had problems with them so fit a tracking bracelet. Korea according to reports wont let people in unless they load their tracking app onto their phone.

:( Singapore was a shining example - it isn't now. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1098985/singapore-covid-19-total-cases/

There are many plans that have worked that have had much wrong with them!

Had to travel after the virus hit due to necessity. The advice on arrival back was a joke.
And that was still holding true a week ago when some relatives finally made it back.
They'd traveled well before the problem was known, but were stranded in Asia.
As usual the consular services were worse than useless!

there is no evidence that mottie's alleged acquaintances form this figure.
Hang on John, when everything’s up and running again, I’ll take 'em all down to my solicitors and get some affidavits for you - wouldn’t want you disbelieving me. Hang on a minute, actually, I couldn’t give a **** whether you believe me or not.

If you think decreasing the social housing stock to buy votes is a good idea, absolutely nothing wrong with it

Mrs T realised at the time that it would result in far more private landlords.Mind you PM this and that gets me because in real terms her advisors realised that it would. The reply was that the UK had a higher proportion of privately owned houses than others compared with Germany for instance so why should we be any different.

They called the project disposal of short term housing stock. ;) Bit odd really as often better built than private housing. The gain was money from selling to tenants and no more maintenance costs such as repainting them every 3 years or fixing what ever went wrong with them.

What wasn't realised at the time though was low interest rates and buy to let mortgages as a result. The cost of these dictates rental prices. Then comes super low rates to stimulate the economy which in real terms makes this worst. If some one want a more decent return on money they buy and rent. Returns are far higher than anything else that can easily be done with it. The assets some then own appreciate long term.

Right to buy seems to still exist - so build a load more council houses?
