Holy Smoke

if one of your kids smokes weed, you’re against it ?
Yes, I'd discourage it.

We educated our sprogs about recreational drugs and like all responsible parents, you know that are going to want to try the forbidden fruit. We also have addicts in our family, so we are aware of the dangers. We are not naïve either and had a good sense of what was going on in their lives.

What we both decided as parents was that we were not going to encourage them to take drugs or alcohol and made a conscious visible effort to limit what they saw or heard in the home.

At what age was they, when did you decide this? You sound insane tbh.

We’ve taken a similar approach with our lads. I’m fairly sure one of my kids smokes weed at university, but I can’t condone it. As I used to smoke a bit. He knows I’m not happy about it.

I know they are both responsible and work hard. They’ve seen the effects alcohol can have, my sister has a problem with it.

Some people can’t stop the party. I’ve never had that issue.

Some people need a blow out at weekend and then get back to normal on a Monday. I’ve done that a lot into my 30’s and a few times in my early 40’s.

I can’t be arsed with it all now and much prefer a good nights sleep and early start

Having a go at @Highway Man for something you and others have done in the past doesn’t sit right with me. Don’t be ashamed of your previous party lifestyle.

When my first child was born.
It is fair to say, most peoples first thoughts and conversations about their new born is what should we name him/her. What colour room should we have. Which pram should we buy. What brand of food and nappy's should we use. Not you though, you thought about educating the baby about the use of drugs and should we discourage the use. Parent of the year.

In the Seventies, It was mandatory to toke up n' listen to Genesis at Uni - nowadays i guess they're too worried about grades and finding a job.
What have we lost?

My youngest smoked weed and vaped at 14.

Now - he does not smoke, does not drink, plays sports, gets up at 5 a.m. and goes to the gym, often comes home and cooks the tea. If Carlsberg did kids.....

There is no magic formula. As I have said, as a parent you can strive to make things normal in the home. I didn't want the regular consumption of recreational drugs or casual alcohol drinking to be highly visible in the home.

Fun fact: we never put salt on the table, since the sprogs were born.
