Huawei

Hear what the Chinese said about being dropped? Unfair and immoral?
OK.
Like how easy would it be for a company outside China get into their market?

Android has always been part of Google really. They gain control by funding and helping open source software people.

Trump is saying that we and others aren't going to use it because of security risks. The NSA didn't hack many politicians mobiles did they? No surely not. Pot calling kettle black.

The worry here is said to be this 7nm fabrication equipment from the USA licensed to not be used in China. I suspect that is ballcocks and it's really down to USA pressure. 5nm is on it's way as well.

Costs not using it - £6b mentioned and all sorts of problems and costs from stuff from Huawei that is already in use for net related areas.

BBC reported today that the Chinese would not be investing in the UK anymore.

As I suspect they were only investing for their own benefit in the first place, and not for altruistic reasons, "fook 'em" is what I say.

Isn't that what all private investors do - Invest for their own private benefit.

Given that the 5G network was sold to the UK at a loss, it begs the question what are the Chinese getting out of it.

The UK had little choice to pull out given Huawei can't get the US chips anymore.

There will be some type of millatary Confrontation with China in the future no. Doubt about it imo

Flexing there muscles in the south China Sea
Building islands etc

Taiwan another potential Confrontation?

As they say - if you are not paying for the product, then you are very likely to be the product. Nobody gives anything away for free, and yes Huwawi 5g was well under true value, our gov back in 04(?) took the short term easy option.

I don't blame the Chinese they're just looking after their own, our gov was week in falling for the bait, we allowed Marconi to go to the wall to save a few quid, now we don't have an telecommunications industry capable of building our own networks - just horrible short term politics that basically sells our future generations down the river.

What happens when China stops buying up American debt and calls in its loans.
Will Trump default on America's debts to China and claim that any money owed is being seized as compensation for CV.

Its said that Western democracies depend on China's industrial might to feed its demand for cheap goods/products. But China's economy also depends on us buying their goods. So where does the fulcrum lie in this delicate balancing act? Who will blink first?

only got to look at the government’s uturn on huwawei . I think we’ve blinked.

I don't think we've blinked by saying Huwawei is a security risk, just letting them know we can manage our 5G without them. China may 'blink' by not retaliating as it could further affect worldwide trust in the Chinese.
