If there was a general election tomorrow….

I am no theologian :)
Right. The issue I have here, is you like to drill down when finding out about what other posters think about things but when I ask you, you don't want to play. It's a bit one-sided, can you see that? Let's leave it there.

I enjoy discussions with you. But I don't want to pretend I know more than I actually do. My thoughts on religion are pretty basic and it is not something I am that interested in. And to be fair, I don't often drill down into what other posters believe. My discussions are usually much more about the technical or legal aspects of things, like learning lots from you about gender identity issues.

You've made some pretty strong statements regarding religion so far. For example, you believe the overwhelming majority of Muslims married to other Muslims are peaceful in the UK, that there are Jews who are fanatical but in a fundamentalist way so I don't see what the issue is in you explaining further, but you don't want to.

I was following through on the argument from another poster that religions get more moderate as they get older. It is something I've heard several times before. People often argue that Muslims are still at the stage Christians were at 600 year ago. I don't actually believe it.

The Spanish Inquisition is an example.

I honestly can't. I simply don't have the knowledge. And it's not the sort of thing I can really Google like I often do in discussions.

And the Old Testament gave way to the New.
The Old Testament which was all hail and brimstone and an eye for an eye is the predecessor to the New Testament which preaches forgiveness and mercy on the whole. An example of the evolution of the Christian faith.

*fire and brimstone

I knew that much. What I didn't get was the link to the Spanish Inquisition. That happened 1500 years after Jesus Christ, so we already had the New Testament by that time.

So you do know about religion.
