It’s not just immigrants from South Asia who have problems with English. When I lived in an area with a large post war Italian population many of the women who came over never learnt English because traditional roles meant they stayed at home and within their communities. You could spot them because they would cover their hair out of modesty. Too much hating going on here.

60 or 70 years ago?
Italian women stopped covering their head in the late 50s.
In same remote areas in the south, this custom remained until the early 70s.
By then, only very old widows would cover their head and only when going to church.
Of course there was the odd one who would do so always when out of the house, but very rare since the 70s.

Devout women do still today. Nuns and those being respectful inside religious buildings etc.

I'm of the opinion a Burqa is a revolting hideous garment and has no place in this world. I find it difficult not to stare when I see a person in the UK wearing one. More wondering why she choses to wear it. Or does she actually like wearing it? Has she been forced to wear it?

But then I see nuns all wrapped up from head to toe and accept it. I thinks ultimately it's the covering of the face that is the alienating factor. The stuff you see on the beach is a wee bit bizarre though, I have to say.

I haven't seen a nun in decades. They used to be a common sight in my childhood; there were schools run by nuns. I used to have a great respect for them, and for the sacrifices they made with their lives for God. When I first started to see burka women knocking about, I remember feeling that same respect. Until I heard them effing and blinding to each other.

Happens all the time everywhere.
Immigration will do checks before raiding a place and identify red flags.
If you run a 500 seat restaurant with 2 staff, most likely you have more staff.

I am sure.
Anonymous tip offs are taken with a pinch of salt but not ignored.
Non anonymous tip offs are thoroughly investigated.
Immigration don't have time and resources to waste on random raids, that's why they do back office investigations first.
I know people in immigration, so the above comes from the horse's mouth.

Not necessarily but suspicions arise when you have 2 staff on your books for a 500 seat restaurant.
That's why you get raided.
