JOB INTERVIEW QUESTION FOR BOILER COMPANY

3 electrical checks:
Live to earth , should be 230isVAC
Live to Neutral, ditto,
Neutral to earth a very small voltage, depending on your meter.

Low water content on gravity ? NO.
They rely on a pump to get the heat out of the boiler.

But always
check the manufacturers instructions

check the manufacturers instructions

Surely thats one electrical check chris?

it wasnt the agency that sent me for an interview, it was the boiler companies decision.. there just acting as the "middle man"..

Low water content on gravity - noooooooooo

Check for suitably rated fuse according to boiler/system

Earth Continuity - Under 1 Ohm, between appliance earth & at various points around the case

Short Circut Check - Between L&N Zero - ohms or oL indicates a short circuit (fuse removed while testing)

Resistance to earth check - Between L&E All swiches & t/stats switched on ( but still no power) Should be getting a reading above 1Mohm (fuse removed while testing)

Mains volt tests & polarity

L-N 240v
L-E 240v
N-E 0-15v

little tip:

if your stuck on these tests

Put them on a credit card sized piece of paper, laminate it and then keep for referance in your wallet.

I always keep little referance cards in my wallet for

gas rating
ventilation
purging

as do most engineers

Typical of ACS questions really - when you've seen the answer you can work out what the question meant to ask!

I love the way they are written

"do you do or do you dont do something what some may do when the meant not to do what you would have done"

A Huh?
B 2.5cm2
C NCS
D all of the above
