Maybe a basic nuclear capability is what’s needed, and spending more on drone technology and defensive anti missiles. Iron domes have made a huge difference in the Middle East

Nuclear deterrence is intended to deter others from attack.

They're intended to ensure an attacker suffers enormous damage and loss of lives.

Friendly relations, discussion, embracing of each others concerns, and negotiation is to deter others from attacking.
Public criticisim, demonising and open hostility incites others to attack us in any form they can muster.
