And it wasn't that many years ago in reality.There is nothing wrong with fuses, nor any regulation prohibiting thier installation to this day.
In some situations, it is much more desirable to use a fuse rather than a circuit breaker.
When I was an apprentice we were still installing BS 3036 Wylex rewireable fuse boxes. I think I’m showing my age now
When we moved into this house in 1994 I upgraded the installation to a wylex with rewireable fuses, in fact between 88 and 94 I installed a number of them but did fit some MCBs in them too.
I prefer to use a fuse for a submain, some how it just feels the right thing to do.
