Doesn't really say much about my "law abiding" attitude, but speaks volumes about your complete lack of law awareness.
So what if traffic lights are turned off in "other countries" ? Go and live there if you don't like it here in the UK.
Uh uh, is that all you can think of?
Do you not feel silly stopping at a red light crossing, when there is no one crossing?
Do you not feel it is pointless to be stopped at a junction, when there is no traffic?
Do you not feel it absurd to have traffic lights at 3am in the morning?
Has anyone given any reason NOT to go when it's clear, other than "ZE RULE BOOK SAYS NO!".
Geez, your one messed up fellah
Read the rules for cyclists (in the highway code) which I'm sure you must have read.
https://www.gov.uk/rules-for-cyclists-59-to-82
I'm not sure if you are being ironic, or just thick?
What is the point at stopping at a light, when there are not pedestrians crossing, or no traffic coming the other way, what is the purpose of that rule, in that situation?
Computer says no?
So ASearle,
is it your honest opinion that unless a cycle route is perfect for mile upon mile,
cyclists should instead select a more dangerous alternative? (i.e. The road)
If you are cycling along, and a junction is up ahead (that you have no right of way at). You have to look for traffic coming out of that junction, plus traffic BEHIND you, that may be turning left (because they have right of way, so can turn "into" you as you cross, and you are at fault).
That means you have to stop at every junction, for it to be safe, and of course if people turn without indicating.....
And seeing as 90% of the journey will be on the road, I don't know why you get so hung up about them "taking the dangerous" option, and act surprised they would go onto a lane like the above.
It's not "imperfect", it's just crap.
