Mower coil resistance value

So, you have a spark after all!
Good stuff.
Drop the float bowl, and turn the fuel on.....if the fuel keeps flowing then the needle valve is fine - lift the float up and the flow should stop.
Are you sure the engine is getting full choke?

That is what i was going to ask.
How does the chole operate as there is no lever.

There is a bracket on the engine with a fixed rod & thing but long spring.
Both connect to the lever on the carb

How is this operate ?
 
Metal case on bottom of carb removed.
Fuel on & i can see it coming out the bottom of the carb onto my can.
I then lift the plastic float up and the flow of fuel stops.
 
Sorry, I forgot.....excess fuel is provided by the primer bulb so there won’t be a choke flap.
I guess you’ve removed the main jet and emulsion tube for cleaning.

Choke flap ?
Isn’t that the piece inside the carb I can see.
The lever it is connected to has a spring and metal rod connected to it.
These then connect to an arm that comes out the engine case ?

when I move the spring and or rod and look in the carb I see the choke flap start to close off the provided space. I suppose this is what makes it richer.

I’m going to remove the carb and and show you photos.
 
Reading it again.
The red primer bulb don’t seem to squirt fuel when carb is off.
But engine should still start albeit rough.
 
The only flap control I can see so far is the throttle one.
If you remove the air filter outer cover and element and if you can see down the carb choke, pressing the primer should send a squirt of fuel out of the brass jet.
On some machines this isn’t visible, unfortunately :(

Just to expand on this one.....
Thebprimer bulb pumps a jet of air, not fuel.
This system relies on a good seal - with a gasket usually - between the plastic air cleaner case and the aluminium carburettor. Any leaks here will allow air to escape.
The pulse of air enters the carb float chamber, causing a jet of fuel to shoot up the emulsion tube and into the venturi.
If possible, have the machine on full throttle to allow a start. ( not applicable on fixed speed engines).

This must be a fixed speed engine as there is only the brake bar.
I am happy that what i cleaned with carb cleaner / petrol & air line is ok.
I will smear a small amount of vasaline etc between gaskey & air filter case tomorrow.
Just now i pressed the red primer bulb & could hear just air then from a small hole in the carb body came a spray of fuel.

But where the hole is lined up just goes to a hole in the 1/4 thick nylon block then down,looks like some kind of drain system should the carb flood etc.
With the hole against this block it could never go into the engine.
 
I did notice that a gasket had 2 holes say 1mm in diameter where the 2 studs it passes over is only say 6mm
You would of thought that the holes cut in the gasket would be a better fit.

Tonight im done so tomorrow i will take some photos for your reference.

Just managed to look at it today.
Ive attaches the photos.

the small hole shown to the left of the red primer is where I would say excess fuel comes out. It then goes into the nylon spacer block then onto the floor. I assume an overflow system.

there is also an arrow that is horizontal pointing at a brass plug. This screws into the side of the vertical tube of which the needle jet is sat in. This brass plug does nothing as the hole it screws into is solid.

the bass jet etc that I’m holding has 2/3 hole at staggered positions so I am unable to look through them but I did leave it in fuel for an hour.

blowing with my mout or air line I feel no resistance as in any kind of blockage.

These are the gaskets.
Top fits to engine.
Then the block which has the hole then drain groove down down. Overflow ?

then hole in last gasket fits to block and on carb aligned with small hole.
Then a gasket between carb and air filter housing

You mention choke.
I has put the parts back as i found them so lets assume the person before put then back in the wrong order thus creating a air gap of cutting off a hole etc.

Attached is fron & rear of carb also gaskets / block removed.


Where would you fit the block ?
Engine to carb or carb to air filter ?

Cant go by markings on gasket just in case these were impressioned by fitting them wrong
