now I know why

So if you dont like it you are free to leave , become a migrant worker, oh hang on , you dont agree with that do you?

No offence fella but at 22 you are still very much growing up.

I don't agree with the fact that Britain no longer has an identity, or at least not the identity that I grew up knowing. I'm all for immigration, but immigration that will improve the country's skillset, and improve our services. What we have is a huge amount of unskilled labour, to the extent that jobs which were previously done by British workers are now done by Eastern Europeans, while we have millions of Brits unemployed.

I probably am still growing up, but that doesn't stop me making decisions and having a view of my own.

Cleaners were English. The people in the chippy were English.

Now we're left with workshy chavs. Walk down a main road and the people you encounter will be speaking their (foreign) native language. You often encounter gangs. Cleaners barely speak a word of English. The people behind the counter in the chippy don't know what 'scraps' are.

If Brits are unemployed and immigrants are employed, who is to blame?

I strongly believe that if you want work in the UK, you can find work. Might not be highly paying and easy, but you can find one way or another to make a living for your family. I can't see any reason for a British person not being able to get work.

You can't possibly have a view of your own, well according to thatbloke we are all either to young or to old.

Who is to blame? The previous Labour government for opening the floodgates, and employers for choosing to employ so many foreign nationals.

Have you tried finding a job as an unskilled worker recently? Or even as a skilled worker? I think the latest figures showed 2m+ claiming jobseekers. You're telling me there are 2m jobs available in the UK?

There are only 3 reasons for (all) immigration...

1. Cheap labour for the multinationals (who, of course, donate large sume to political parties)

2. To water down our sense of identity so that we can more easily be shoe-horned into the EU.

3. To import voters. It is lefties who, predominantly, flood the country with immigrants. They then house, feed, clothe, educate and medicate them 'free' of charge. So who are they going to vote for? Socialists then stay in power for ever.

I totally agree. However, what does it say about Socialism, when although he let millions in, they still couldn't bring themselves to vote for Gordo and his apalling Nu Labour government?

Its strange how the older generation have views such as yours and the younger generation , like me , see things differently , I think they call it progress.

No I haven't tried to find a job recently as I'm employed. But the question is do 80% of the 2M benefit claimants try to find one?

You must be very ignorant if you believe that employers will employ an immigrant just because they are immigrants. It might be more to do with:

1) Many benefit claimants are better off claiming than getting a low paid job. So don’t apply
2) Immigrants have only one option "work" so they work harder.
3) I can't be bothered to waste my energy on you, as you will be happier by blaming someone else for your short comings.

As for not being enough jobs for young unskilled workers, have you been to your local supermarkets and town centres recently? There are two types of young people. Some work in supper markets and stores while they study and others complain. Which one are you?

If you have just done a degree, don’t expect to get a top paying job if you barely scarp through from a low level university.
The 2M claimants have always been claimants. Labour just had a nice way to improve the numbers “New Deal”.

Have you not noticed the large number of Eastern Europeans working in factories up & down the country? I can't explain the reasons for it. But I can try. There are agencies specifically for Eastern European workers. If they offer to supply labour for less than your 'average' agency, what employer wouldn't take that?

My girlfriend's dad has worked in 2 factories since I've known him. Both have a large amount of immigrant workers, not many of whom speak English, which should be (in my opinion) a requirement before you can live & work in this country.

I fall into the 'wouldn't mind a part-time job but I can get by without one' category. My girlfriend, however, graduated last July. She can't find employment, and like many her degree is specific to a very small area. She's applied for over 300 jobs and still can't find employment (ranging from care-work to HR). For the record, she doesn't claim Jobseekers because my student loan/grant is deemed as enough for 2 people to live on. But that's for another thread.

I'm studying engineering at a university which is in the top 10 in the UK for the subject, and doing pretty well. Without wanting to sound arrogant, I think I'll be OK; I don't expect to graduate and demand £50k/year, or anywhere near that.

You're right that the 2m claimants have always been claimants. How many Eastern European workers are in the UK? Let's be conservative and say roughly 150k. That's 150k jobs taken that could go to British workers.

This is in agreement with what I said. If you use the opertunities you have being british, there is no reason why you should be worried about imigrants taking your job.

Not necessarily. Many unemployed don’t want to work.

There are no agencies specifically form immigrants that i know of, all out **** jobs are taken by immigrants because unless skilled its all they can get.
Factory jobs pay around 6 quid an hour , would you work for that?
Most English people wouldn't , would you go out and follow a tractor around a field picking cabbages, or pick mushrooms or the like for very very little money?

Without these people doing these poorly paid jobs your fresh produce would be more expensive , if it didnt stay in the fields.

So while you lot moan about them , remember who serves you petrol , manufactures your ''buy british'' goods, allows you to pay for your groceries in most supermarkets and keeps your agricultural industry afloat.

What opportunites?

Plenty of unemployed people do want to work. They're not all chavs/workshy scroungers.

There are agencies; I spoke about them in a different thread a week or 2 back.

Some of us have been in a position where we'd be happy to work for £6/hr. Plenty of people do, because they haven't got the skills or qualifications to earn more. Britain has its own unskilled workers as well!

Without these people doing these poorly paid jobs your fresh produce would be more expensive , if it didnt stay in the fields.

British people are as capable & willing to do these jobs. If New Labour hadn't opened the floodgates, a lot more of us would be doing them now.

So while you lot moan about them , remember who serves you petrol , manufactures your ''buy british'' goods, allows you to pay for your groceries in most supermarkets and keeps your agricultural industry afloat.

Again, British people are just as capable, and just as willing. You seem to be of the opinion that only immigrants are willing to do 's**t jobs'.
