PCP vs Cash when buying a car question.

Really?

Don't be silly. That's the most ridiculous argument ever.

All tech is like that. Just think of any techie thing you ever bought.

Now compare it with the equivalent today.

Didn't stop you buying it did it?

And you didn't think, "Oh, I better not buy this because there's going to be a better one out next year...."
Sorry, I kind of read your post as saying that new, cheaper, higher storage capacity batteries were just around the corner.
You didn't quite say that. My mistake.
I do think electric cars are great to drive, I'm just not very happy about the mandating going on at the moment.
No one should be forced to buy one or go without a car.

lol, are you on the payroll of the EV association? You seem to be very anti anyone simply discussing that motion sickness might be an issue. I don't think anyone is asserting EVs are 100% bad, however people are entitled to raise any actual and/or perceived issues.

From the articles I've read, I am 100% confident there are people who don't experience motion sickness in ICE vehicles but do in EVs. Whether you choose to believe that or not is irrelevant.
Yeah, I've had so many people talk to me about EVs, even people who know we have one and spout rubbish about them straight from the papers about how they are always catching fire, you can never find a charger, they don't work even when you find one, the range is rubbish, they are horrendously unreliable, they are so heavy they are causing potholes, MSCPs are having to be reinforced because they are much heavier. Yadder, yadder.....

We have done just over 19K in 2 years in our Chinese EV and had not a jot of trouble.

lol, someone else on the EV payroll.

Member rule #273: If anyone, ANYONE, says even one negative thing about EVs, defend EVs with all your might, ALL YOUR MIGHT!!!

You've missed or ignored the posts where people have pointed out that, if you can't charge at home, an EV is not suitable for the average Joe Schmo.

Currently and honestly though, that's the only negative I can come up with.

They are definitely good for the tyre fitters due to their weight.

Potholes are better for tyre fitters (y).

I have to do monthly checks on tyre wear and condition.

Mine were, at the start of the month, all over 4mm of tread remaining.
From 8mm last July, 16k miles ago.

Seems alright to me (y)

Congrats, you have just achieved EV Association Level 3 Defender. Your certificate is in the post.

You had better not be bullshoiting.

Again (y)
What I will say in ref to your #94 post is I don't expect the charging thing (in terms of time) to remain an issue longer term, it's always being improved upon. I think I saw on a tv prog they're already working on batteries and recharging tech that will mean going from near empty to full in <5 mins is possible.

This is partly why, even if my current ICE vehicle gives up soon, I will likely buy another ICE vehicle. Then, by the time I next change, much of the existing issues will be resolved.

I concur.

Although having to still rely on non-domestic chargers will mean not being able to benefit from the cheap rates.

Back on subject. Been looking online and phoning around for the best prices today and found a 'cash' price that I thought was too good to be true. Nearly £2k better than the next best price. It was too good to be true - I phoned the dealer up and it was an HP price - the cash price was £2k extra! Told him in that case I can get a better price elsewhere but he told me what to do. Take out HP for the minimum amount (£3K) to get the manufacturers £2k towards the finance deposit, put a massive deposit down - the 'cash' price less £5k (£3k finance and £2k manufacturers deposit) and simply pay off the £3k finance after a couple of months. I did something similar when I bought the Range Rover - took out the minimum finance agreement to get the two years warranty and two years servicing and then paid it off quickly. Looks like it might work. I’ve asked for that in writing before I go ahead.

Somebody must lose out in that scenario. Is it the manufacturer or the finance company. I can't work it out.
