Well folks it's been a while, but I'm back on periodics for a bit.

Another fantastic downlighter installation.

People simply cant be trusted with these things, and that sadly includes many electricians. Ban them!

Was this done by a homeowner or a spark?

What a load of ****e Rob!! You must have been ****ing yourself when you looked up there. Lucky the ceiling is still up!!!

What would have been so wrong with poping a few pilot holes in??

I'm wondering what you were kneeling on when you took the photos!

Somewhere there should be an insurance certificate displayed (employer and/or public liability).

Make a note of the insurer's name and cc them on the letter to the building owners advising that they get a structural engineer to inspect it.

it must have taken a bit of effort to scollop those joists out to allow the D/Ls to fit.

Surely it would have been easier to simply cut a 5 inch section completely out of the timber with a panel saw?? :D

But on the bright side (pun intended), at least the cracks forming in the ceiling below will be easy to spot with all those lights. :D

That's one of the best installations I've seen

That is pretty impressive.

You've got to admire the spark's commitment; it would have been easy to just mount the DLs in the plasterboard, but s/he wasn't afraid of a bit of woodwork!

To get so many of them in the joists also requires some serious planning.
