Chaps,

It's getting worse.
I heard last night that company who make "Pedigree Chum" have gone bankrupt.

They've had to call in the retrievers!

 Gossard!Bust!
I really must keep abreast of the times, one feels such a t*t finding that out here on DIY !
Not the most uplifting of news is it chaps !

On a more seriarse note, it is a full-blown recession now.

Bets please on who (commercially-speaking) will not be here to greet 2010...

DSG.

As an aside, the Supermarket business will always be needed, therefore nobody can come on here and say Tesco will be next etc.

Supermarkets will always adapt to changing business patterns. For example Morrisons have recently strengthened their value offer, by displaying a bold 6 metre display of their yellow value stuff. They all know what people want, and are geared up to give them it.

Yup, my money is on DSG, and if it wasn't for the staff I would be glad to see them go.

DSG? The sooner the better the thieving g%*s!

2 years ago I bought a flat screen TV from Currys and was 'persuaded' to get it on interest free credit.
Yep, no probs it will save me money and give me time to pay for it.
WRONG!!!

If I went past the finish date the interest was back dated to the day I bought the TV.
If I paid before the interest was to end or at the date it was supposed to I would pay administration charges almost as much as the interest I would have paid if I had gone past the date.
So the following day I went back and cancelled the agreement and paid cash, £700
A month later I am getting threatening letters because my DD had been cancelled and they wanted their money!
It has taken me 18 months and numerous phone calls/letters to get this sorted and was only finally sorted when I threatened them with legal action for damages for harrassment and sent them triple copies of every letter and proof of phone calls that I had made along with names and departments of everyone I communicated with.
As 'compensation' I received £80 of gift vouchers.
They came in handy at Christmas!

I'm sure we all have reasons to dislike DSG Conny. PCWorld is another of theirs and less said about them the better. But them going tits up will affect staff and their families, and that would be a shame.

Agreed, I don't like the idea of anyone losing their job through whatever cause but at the end of the day it was their staff that 'persuaded' me into the deal in the first place and then their staff who took so long to get it sorted.

If I pressured a customer into getting his motor rewound and then he found it only needed overhauling then quite rightly I should get my ars* kicked. The policy with DSG, wether it is Currys, PC World or Dixons etc is to screw the customer for whatever you can but make him/her feel as though they are getting a bargain. I know 2 people who have worked for this group in managerial positions and both have told me independently of each other that they had to attend a 'Special High Intensive Training' course. Using the initials you can figure out what it was euphemistically called.

So, the 1000s of staff should be made redundant, and the 1000s of existing customers left out of pocket/out of warranty ...... just because you failed to read a contract before signing it.

Yep, that sounds fair

Only a very minor point, but isn't the warranty with the manufacturer and not the retailer ?
