I have visited a lot of the WW1 cemeteries paying my respects to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. My great uncle is commemorated on the memorial wall at Arras along with 35,000 others who have no known grave. There are lots of smaller cemeteries which have a special place in the history of the local villages and surrounding areas. Well worth a visit to remember the fallen and all those who fought for freedom whether uniformed or not, and those from other nations, on both sides.
I served 27 years in the RN and feel honour bound to show my respects to all the veterans and their families because they served too.
