My 'generalisation' is from seeing with my own eyes all my children’s university educated friends (with the exception of one of them) gaining their degrees in feckology and ending up working full time in the same stores that they worked part time in when they were home on leave from uni. Argos, Sainsbury, Next, Boots. Not one of them has a job in any way related to the degree they took. I take it you have a degree? What’s it in and what do you do for a living?

I think it was Tony Blair that had a vision thst 50% of pupils would go to university. His vision has become reality, what you are reporting is the consequence.

Higher education is now a money making exercise, so sadly nothing will change.

Britain has a shameful tradition of valuing "classical" education of no practical use. Just look at Buffoon Johnson throwing in words alien to most of the population, or Rice-Pudd using obscure Latin tags from discontinued Catholic ritual.

Try and find a director of an industrial company with a Dr. Ing. or at the very least a Dipl. Ing.

In Germany, try to find even a Department Head without it.
