Shows how untrustworthy the BBC are

Meanwhile Trumpf jumps before he’s pushed (by his own people).

Newsnight reporter David Grossman...was one of the few people at the BBC who had watched the entire Trump speech that preceded the attack. Though not a single complaint was lodged about the October 2024 Panorama on the prospects for a second Trump term, by January this year Grossman had flagged the “dodgy” edit of Trump’s speech to the editorial guidelines and standards committee (EGSC). The news executives replied at the May meeting, arguing that such edits were unremarkable and weren’t misleading.

It seems to me that the timing is suspect - a whole year to highlight a programme that nobody objected to at the time and subsequently forgot about until the Telegraph decided to make it 'news'. Why?

Well, notwithstanding their financial situation and buyout negotiations that have dragged on, they need to sell plenty of papers and scuttlebutt is the best way to do that. It gives Trump a way to attack the BBC, a win-win for the Telegraph and Tory opponents of its eminent position in the media landscape. It gives farage a game licence to say what he likes on his news channel about the issue without proper scrutiny of content or character of the OP.

Why does Prescott focus on Jewish objections to the BBC reporting on Gaza and fail to note pro-Palestinian objections? A good question, as right-wing bias favouring Netanyahu remains prevalent in this country. But if you're getting objections from both sides then surely the BBC's policy of independent views are still alive and kicking at Broadcasting House.

Why don't you list them and see if folk agree?
The BBC should vacate the Salford Quays complex; it isn't necessary and is a huge waste of money. Not least of this waste are the weekly and even daily commutes to the place by Londoners. The site and buildings should be given over to those people of Salford and Manchester displaced by the recent 'gentrification' of the area - the tier 2 folk despised by the BBC. All jobs created should be given to those said people and not foreigners.

Sounds drastic I know, but drastic change (for the worse) is being imposed on us all the time.

In the context of Trumpf’s false and aggressive narrative about the stolen election and related fraud, it is IMO unremarkable and not misleading. It’s like blaming the deckchairs instead of the iceberg. But liable laws seem to treat the edit as defamatory. It’s all the other bits that Trumpf’s case fails on. Hence the Florida case where it seems nobody saw it.

There is a wider longe standing agenda to get rid of the bb c , there is money and political influence to be had.

His attack on Marorie Green is similar, calling her a traitor and leading to direct threats to her life.

Wonder which BBC presenters, shows, channels, directors, officers will have to go after the 5 billion payment?
BBC has told Trump to fek off

BBC 'determined to fight' any Trump legal action, chairman tells staff

It comes after the US president confirmed on Saturday he would be taking legal action against the broadcaster over the editing of his speech on Panorama - despite an apology from the BBC.

They've made an apology and acknowledged the error and damage caused. They've done more damage to themselves than Trump.

Telling the world they intend to "fight" is a very stupid tactic. They would have been better to reiterate the apology and state they intend to move on and rebuild trust.

The beeb would settle, pretty simple case.
yes it is pretty simple: there is no case, the BBC has told Trump to fek off

BBC chair Samir Shah has said there is "no basis for a defamation case and we are determined to fight this" - after Donald Trump said he would sue the corporation for between $1bn and $5bn.

They've made an apology and acknowledged the error and damage caused.
no they didnt

I see nothing about damage caused -they said "there is no basis for a defamation claim

They've done more damage to themselves than Trump.
the damage to the BBC is caused by the billionaire owned media and the right wing parties because they want to control the entire media

liars like Farage cant have a media outlet being able to actually post facts

Everyone calls this an error, trying to play it down.

You don't accidentally splice those 2 videos in error.

It was blatantly done, to make Trump look even worse than he is.

Damage to whom?
They've done more damage to themselves than Trump.
They'll get over it.

Trump however will go down in history as one of the worst presidents/human beings, ever to hold office.
Telling the world they intend to "fight" is a very stupid tactic
Nonsense. Even the Torygraph is talking about the frivolity of it all. Reputational damage my arse.
. They would have been better to reiterate the apology and state they intend to move on and rebuild trust.

No. They'll just wait him out and expect the standard TACO in a few weeks time.

Correct - claiming it was an editing error is nonsense.

But at the same time they cannot admit it was deliberate.
