It's when you have to have the camera up your back passage that it becomes a bit uncomfortable but not agonising. I sympathise with you not wanting bad news but best to find out before it's too late. I've had blood when I poo for donkey's years and I think they said it was anal tags.

Many thanks for your responses. I went for the prostate test this morning and was told by the doctor that I it was enlarged. He recomnended that I also go for a blood test in a fortnight's time and after combing the two results, he will start me on medication.

So they did the finger test and it's enlarged, but even if the PSA test comes back high, that doesn't mean anything. Have have you had the biopsy test yet, as enlarged prostate doesn't signify a lot.

No I haven't had biopsy - doctor said it is too early for that - yes doctor did finger test today

So it almost seems that he's already decided that you're PSA will come out high, and you'll need medication, yet he hasn't arranged a biopsy. PSA tests aren't reliable, and he certainly shouldn't medicate, or not, on the basis of it. Do a bit more research yourself first, and that'll either give you trust in your doctor, or you can get another opinion.

Are you sure the medication is not for high blood pressure ?
As Doggit has said without a Biopsy there is no evidence of Prostrate Cancer so why the medication?
Have you had a scan on the lower half of your body yet ?
I take it you have filled in the nightly "Pee" Chart giving times and amount of Pee passed,

I would have thought he would have referred you to a Specialist for further tests, Guidelines state this should be done with a Fortnight.

Good point on the specialist Bosswhite, but if it were blood pressure medicine, then they wouldn't wait for a blood test. It may be for helping him with the flow etc, when he goes to the loo, rather than controlling anything more serious.

Hi, yes I have and no it is not painful maybe uncomfortable but not painful. I have had all the tests and the radiotherapy treatment!! Please fell free to ask me any question about this and i can reassure you!! Also the camera!!
I think this is a very worthwhile thread, and by discussing the problems it helps to alleviate worries regarding this problem.
I myself was sent a "well man letter"from our local doctors surgery, being a MAN I had not been to the Doctors for about ten years, I felt as fit as a "Butchers dog", like the MOT there was not going to be anything wrong with me, despite the family telling me to go.
I was surprised that the Prostrate Test was not included and one has to ask for it, I had the Test done and the Prostrate was found to be enlarged, I am at present on the three month Hormone injection hopefully to control the situation.
I would say to any man in middle age have the test done ASAP .

I head once that every man will eventually get prostate cancer. For a lot it arrives so late that they die with it, not from it. But not all.
