The Conservatives Said...

You are the one who keeps making this claim! So expect to be challenged. Especially when there isn't a single article or report in existence to back you up. There are legitimate reasons to criticise the HRA. You don't need to invent non-existent ones about it being much harder to pass a law.
Your claim you mean.
It really doesn't. We have been here before. It needs a one line statement from the minister in both houses to say there might be a conflict with the ECHR. The difficulty was trying to get a law passed which basically said black was white. Lots of parliamentarians in both houses thought that looked bad. Anyway, it seemed to pass relatively quickly.
You are relying on the fact that the law eventually got through after a few months. But you make no allowances for the claims that would have followed, judicial reviews, appeals etc. and at each stage the courts would be required by statute to apply HRA sec 3 and any case would have been prejudiced by the incompatibility statement.

A huge amount of effort has been put into the proposed reforms from various political parties and leaders, pretty much since it came in to force. It needs reform to stop the UK being abused.

Don't be silly. You have claimed in this thread and another that the Human Rights Act makes it very hard to get certain legislation through Parliament.

This is what you said previously

Currently it takes any government of the day a lot of work and a long time to pass any legislation that might be considered at odds with the HRA.

You are relying on the fact that the law eventually got through after a few months.

Absolutely nothing to do with the HRA. Just the normal back and forth for contentious legislation.

But you make no allowances for the claims that would have followed, judicial reviews, appeals etc. and at each stage the courts would be required by statute to apply HRA sec 3

A completely different matter. This is what we should be discussing.

and any case would have been prejudiced by the incompatibility statement

Another of your proprietary legal theories with no basis.

Maybe so. But irrelevant to your claims that it makes it very hard to get certain legislation through Parliament. Any issues are down to the interaction with the courts and have nothing to do with the legislative process.

You've disproved your point,

Are you blaming your mum for the country's ills, because she was a foreigner ?
