The French are revolting.

Er being a member you have to pay to keep the poorer nations going. (Membership fees)
That might come under scrutiny by the people's of Germany France and holland going forward with this nett zero ******.
That's assuming you don't get any benefits for those fees.

Do you think we are better off overall, or it's costing us more for not paying those fees?

Try to back it up with proof of some sort rather than a usual gut feeling of course.

Either have gym membership and pay a fixed fee every month or get out your payment card each time you go gym.

The second option costs more, has more admin costs as well but you have the freedom to go to the other gym which you never end up going to.

Or that 'other gym' denies you access because you are no longer worth doing a deal with ;)

We can compare notes in a few years if and when the Ukraine war is over.
You missed the 7 million of the workforce is coming to the geriatric stage and they have an infrastructure that's going down the tubes. They're suffering like all countries in the western world of not replacing themselves and relying more and more on immigrant labour.

What has taken hold in the UK is this rabid free market right wing ideology pushed by the Tories and the Press. It creates a few winners and many losers and the only way to sustain this is to get the average person to punch down and blame everyone but the system - NHS is full of lazy workers, Councils are pen pushers, there is a mass of migrants both working and supressing wages as well as on benefits.

The rich need their useful idiots like mottie, filly, motorbiking.

cost of doing brexit = around £100b

cost of brexit red tape per year = around £10b

net cost of membership = around £10b

Why do you think the richer nations should not help the poorer nations? -since the A8 eastern block countries joined they have massively increased their wealth and gdp and contribute considerably to trade inside the Single Market

pay to keep the poorer nations going
London and the South East is ther cash cow for tax revenue, wTF should it help poor regions like North East, Wales or Cornwall.

Sod that levelling up nonsense

Wasn't always the case when the north was making the money in the industrial revolution.
