Do you need to do anything to the chimney? (I know nothing about building!)

Neither do I, I am going to fit a cowl on my chimney at the top as I have a cherry picker at my disposal or I wouldn't have bothered.

Do you need to do anything to the chimney? (I know nothing about building!)

I'm guessing, one would add a couple of studs to the existing chimney then have it boarded depending on the media wall. The adjacent walls can be modified too or just could do with a couple of floating shelves.

I was thinking that but a briky at work gave me the blocks and sand and cement plus a couple of bags of plaster.

yes I had a pair of beautiful hobnail boots made for me along with a key to unlock them
