What car did you pass your driving test in?

Passed in 1981, BSM Toledo or Dolomite, can't recall which one, but it was a Triumph (the car, as well as passing)

I had a Dolomite, it seemed a really refined car, after some of the junk I had been driving over the years, and quite economical to run.

I taught a few drive over the years, not as an instructor. The last one, had innumerable lessons, with lots of different instructors and just couldn't get the hang of it, he lacked confidence. Unconnected, I lots of little parcels to be delivered, all over the country, so I offered to teach him, and ensure he would pass, letting him do all the driving delivering these items. I worked out a route, avoiding motorways, did the run, got him comfortable such that driving it became second nature. He passed at the next attempt, two months later, he had his first accident, pulling out at a T-junction.

Probably something to do with the time but most teaching cars were Morris Minor 1000 when I took my test and passed first time.

I also did most of the teaching for my wife. I had told her that the oil was to cool and lubricate the bearings. She was asked that question on her test and armed with that answer she was passed the first time!

Passed second time in a mini cooper already passed my bike test 18 months earlier on a suzuki 250 supper six first time.

First time, both times, without anyone teaching me, no lessons at all... Moped, then a Yamaha 250 twin. The first time I rode it, it did an accidental wheelie. Rode bike on L plates, passed that, then moved onto three-wheeler, which was just like a four wheel car, just less stable on the corners, then borrowed four-wheel car for that test. I spent hours practising, alone, manoeuvring, in that three-wheeler, before the test, so I was absolutely spot on.

My early learning days was in my paternal grandmother's Austin 7, in which I passed 1st time
Now at 82 I run and own a Crossfire, plus a superb load-lugging diesel Pathfinder which also pulls my vehicle transporter trailer.

I finally worked out what your avatar means!

I'm a bit slow with these things!

Anyway, welcome to the forum.

My Dad's Vauxhall Viva HB.

Had a dragging clutch - don't think double-declutching was often seen on driving tests.

Still failed the first time, because the examiner was biased.

He didn't like the way I drove.
