Whats the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your mum and dads cooking?

Mom, sunday roast.

My mother - a proper, entirely home cooked Sunday dinner, always beginning with Yorkie puds, an occasional evening rabbit stew with homegrown tasty carrots. I've only once had rabbit stew since then and it was horrible. Sometimes, she would make a meat and potato pie. Years later, she would often make a corned beef hash, and always welcome, nowt to it, but I could never make one as good.

My father, he ended up on a diet. His staple was brown bread, beans, and apricot jam, and his 'I'll make my own'. He was never involved with any cooking.

Never seen my dad near the oven , except when he was too busy to eat his packed lunch , he would stick the sandwich under the grill to toast it , (war child, always cleaned his plate .)

Mum is a fantastic cook, and Dad can do Porridge at a push. but that's a traditional farming couple for you

My dad was a better cook than my mum, actually. Not very common, I remember my friends being surprised when I would mention how he made something really delicious for Sunday lunch.

Mum was a fantastic cook, as was her Mum "Nan".
But one to many mushroom stroganoff's has left me with a revulsion to white rice and mushroom stroganoff

Mum was a great cook, but got one thing always wrong: rice.
Somehow she always overcooked it.
Good thing most days we had pasta.
My dad only cooked food for the dogs.

Hands down I'm a better cook than Mrs Mercury.

But don't tell her I'll have a very short life expectancy!

my mum would put the eggs and bacon in the frying pan to cook then go out and do some gardening for 10 mins or so it wasnt untill i was perhaps 12 that i realized that the buttered bread was to dip in the egg rather making a sandwich to hold the bacon chippings and rubber egg together

Dad deep fried everything in the chip pan, deep fried bread then layered with butter- my diet until I met my wife when I was 20 was mainly fat - I don't have heart problems yet but i often wonder if they're in the post - dad had a triple bi-pass when he was 75

Definitely the Sunday roast—the whole house would smell like roasted meat, Yorkshire puddings, and gravy hours before dinner was even ready. No matter how many times I try to replicate it now, it never quite tastes the same as the one from growing up.
