No one has said it, so I may as well suggest plastic mini trunking.

If you want a really good looking installation, then it has to be pyro.

Pyro cables are a lot smaller than plastic insulated cables; a ring circuit for example needs 1.5mm² instead of 2.5mm².

You can choose plastic covered pyro or bare (copper) pyro. You can even polish the bare copper and make your room look like an old-fashioned public bog.

I would guess this is a mineral insulated cable job. Great stiff have seen where the mortar has been part taken out cable inserted in space and pointed so you can't tell there was a cable there at all.

Did you know thats what MICC was originally developed for? not becuase of its fire-resistance, but because it could be used to wire the louve gallery in france and knocked into the motar gaps.

Dont think you are supposed to do it these days, the bend radius needed to do so is tighter than the OSG recommend, though i've got no doubt that if you got every bend right first time (so no need to bend it back and risk splitting the work hardened sheath) than the cable would tolerate it

Thanks for that, it has solved the problem I had of getting power into the inglenook. Obvious but I hadn't thought of it.

Pyro will only look good if installed well.

Pyro isn't really for the DIYer, and trunking or conduit may be the answer.

And finish it off by peeing in the corner every week.
