When is a gas leak not a gas leak?

How could anyone take the slang "sniffer" and apply it do a tool that hears a gas leak. Epic fail.
Somewhere a village is missing it's idiot.

Personally I'd be embarrassed to be called back to a gas leak. I certainly wouldn't try and charge the customer for it.

what makes you think that Dan? Don't be in an illusion :p

I will tell you the answer to this simple question is ;

Q. When is a gas leak not a gas leak?

Answer: when there is no gas or when there is no leak! :LOL:

You should know even disused gas pipes can smell of gas for ages after the gas is no longer piped through it.

What kind of t*** are we dealing with here?????????????????????

Hey I have got another theory for you hard nutters!:evil: if you don't have a gas escape, it would be very hard for even the best equipment to detect any leaks! :idea: ;)

(I could bet my life on this, you won't get a gas leak if there is no gas escape!) :LOL:

New gas hob fitted a few weeks ago.

Yesterday morning there was a smell of gas in the kitchen, so we called British Gas who sent a contractor out. His sniffer could not detect anything in the kitchen, ?
It was just Marsh Gas coming up from Pevensey Levels ;)

i must have missed this thread, it started in december it would seem. Bit confusing really, why Mr Hailsham should need to ask any questions, I can only assume Google was down at the time :p

I thought D Hailsham/s knowledge was second only to the mighty Tony Glazier. So he isn't even an RGI? How odd. :confused:

whats odd about it? He googles everything, reads loads of manuals and regurgitates it....You could learn something Joe, you might get something right for a change instead of guessing :D
