Except in an election it is choose chicken, or choose beef, there is no "no thanks" option, one of them will get crammed down your metaphorical gullet regardless if you wipe your a**e with the ballot paper or tick one of the boxes.

A well made argument for NOTA :D
NOTA does NOT give 'them' a clear picture of WHY you said NOTA!

How would you feel if you just made love and she said please fill this feedback form:

A) Crap
B) Okay but did not make me come

How about:
C) Please give feedback because there may be something we didn't consider and could do better.

NOTA doesn't tell you what the problem or criticism is any more than NOT voting does ffs. (Banghead).

We can get information request/feedback overload after buying a funkin toaster from Argos or a dongle from Amazon but Whoah!!!! It's just an election we're talking about here....

Sorry, I thought this was the 21st century

Just goes to show how ignorant and presumptuous you are of other peoples' motives.

all those 'enlightened' morons who do vote.....?

Uh uh.

You respect someone who votes BNP or Raving more than a no voter; that's your prerogative. I respect someone who doesn't vote so long as it's not just laziness.

Oh, so you acknowledge that there are worse options, but wish to spread your wisdom of not voting.

So the only vote I'll be registering will be with my feet, like so many have done, when this country becomes insufferable...

Yea, good luck with that, I’m sure you will find none of the same problems in other countries.

You know that over half of those emigrants moved to sunnier countries to retire, but please keep up your ignorance.

Can you tell me who this "no one" is that get's elected if people choose NOTA?

Who's winning this argument? Answer: -

A) Tony
B) Not Aron
C) A mad fringe party

Come on now. You MUST cast a vote. ;)

Oh I see... NOTA

Which tells us what exactly?

And yours does because you vote for more of the same. Okay, good luck.

Look you! I don't know why you're so bent out of shape. I like and respect you as an intelligent poster. I'm not doing anything illegal so I'll end with a fact.

You accuse me, 'us lot', as being stupid and lazy without knowing what I have done or know. (I didn't get to The States or do what I do over here by being either, but no matter).

AFAIK, NOTA is ignored but what I DO know is all non voters are most definitely recorded AND they are beginning to ask why. (At long last).

So a non vote speaks more than NOTA; whether you like it or not. My only hope is that they will do something constructive and look into why. But this is GB so I won't hold my breath...

There is no "more of the same", they are not made in clone factories, they all have different flaws.

Do I really need to re-quote you again calling voters morons?

Most non voters are lazy, they cry about them being all the same, but often can't name the candidates if pushed.

"do something about it".

What exactly, should the government start selecting candidates for us to vote for, hmmm, can't possibly see any flaws in that!

There is nothing for the government to do, any issues with the selection of candidates for MP's is purely down to the public.

Well they could start by frog-marching out of office any and every crook - for good! No big fat handshake and no returning later. Career is over! Then you might start getting people of integrity in Parliment. It's no more than would happen in our lives if we f'cuked up at work.

Start weeding out the corrupt and sod political correctness. Use the word liar if the cap fits!

So then, how about an e-petition to that effect for starters? Get up to 100,000 and it has to be discussed in The House IIRC.

Tell you what, you're cleverer and more motivated than me so you word it and start it off and I promise I'll sign up? I've done that before because at least it hits the point; unlike a protest vote...

Who is "they"?

Career is over!

No need to bar people with criminal records from standing for election.

Just don't vote for them, or any MP's that support them.

And what exactly would they discuss hmmm?

MP's who commit crimes should go to jail?, oh wait, they do....., and they generally don't commit many crimes and lose their positions as MP's (Chris huhne being the latest?)

That they should then be barred from politics, err no, the point of democracy is WE get to vote for who we want, the government of the day shouldnt be able to set up restrictions.

Remember being gay used to be illigal, and people today still have convictions against their name about this, should they be barred from being MP's?

All you post is a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing. Fist waving and cries of "Something should be done", but no clear idea what is wrong, what to do, no detials of how, or by whom.

Colour me unimpressed.

I used to think that it ought to be made some sort of offence to renege on a manifesto pledge (after all, such a pledge is somewhat akin to a contract with the people who voted you in).
But, circumstances change, so your pledge may no longer be the "sensible" course of action. Or the "responsible" person could be moved aside, with the incomer being immune by dint of "not enough time for me to fix it". So I struggle to see (voting for an opposing candidate next time, aside) much mileage in this approach.

I do though think that if NOTA happened frequently enough, over a prolonged period of time, the political parties would have to look at "the system". After all, "mandate to govern" is not an unheard of concept........

Not trying to impress you or anyone else. You just want people to vote because you seem to think it somehow makes them better than those who don’t. That’s your opinion which is different to mine – end of! Let’s agree to disagree. (Still not falling out with you despite how it may look).

This is a forum and, as such, anyone can post their opinion - or not. If you don’t like mine on this matter then ignore me. We’ve both had our say and done it to death. Others will agree with me who also don’t vote for whatever their reason is. There is no right or wrong about it Aron; well you obviously think there is but it's not illegal so...

I don’t vote because, as I keep saying, it sends a message which you, (wrongly), have attributed to apathy, laziness or stupidity. Some people are all those things, just as many of those who vote are. I have to live with their dumb votes; they can live my not voting until something or someone comes along I do like. The last time such a thing happened was with John Smith. It was a shame he died before getting a chance but I did feel he would have had my vote had he lived.

Until another of his ilk irises, from whatever party, they can just keep adding my no-vote to the list of millions of others who also don’t vote and we’ll see what the bean counters make of it in time. As for now, they all remind me of nothing more than a bunch of spivs. (With a few exceptions).

That's right. But do we know NOTA are counted? I don't think they are but we do know, as I said, that no votes are and that they are looking at it.

I don’t vote because, as I keep saying, it sends a message which you,

A message to who, a message of what?

You refere to "them" in your post, who is supposed to be listening to your "message", what are they supposed to do about it?

You vote for candidates, are you expecting your none vote to create new candidates, or existing canditates to do what exactly?

Why do you think no one cares about the opinion of someone who doesnt vote, you talk about sending a message, making a statment, but of what?

All you talk about is generic tosh about how rotten they all are, how "they" should do something about it.

What, how, who, none of this you explain.

Hot air with no substance.
