Is This Sign Confusing?

A self contained vehicle designed or adapted for sleeping in. Otherwise a camper van that fits in to a car parking bay is exempt and a converted transit is prohibited.

I understand it in part, a bit confusing on the minus ,plus thing.
but not bad £5.00 a night for motor home. has it got sea views.:?:
3 days at £15.00 is good.
three parking for cars all day from 8 am till 6pm, then behold free parking from 6pm till 8am I think

No difference in paying for a mars bar as paying for parking. I need petrol in my car as much as I need to have somewhere to park. I'm not going to suddenly expect to be exempted form all charges because my family are sick. I will continue to pay my way.

Car parking charges?

Brainless

...Its the same at the petrol pump, it wasn't that long ago they were saying you would explode in to flames if you used your phone on the forecourt, now they've removed the pay at pump and replaced them with pay by phone app.
I use that Shell app quite often. Never on the forecourt though, you do it all from inside the car before you even start pumping fuel.

Brainless
Is that why you are struggling to think of an alternative to car parking charges.
If you were visiting a terminally ill person, i.e your child, would you have the mentality at that time to deal with a load of spare change and confusing scribbles ?
I would use previous experience and know EXACTLY what is expected when I visit the hospital car park. I would not expect to be exempt now that I'm visiting a sick child as opposed to having some routine physio.

wow! someone from the council actually joined the site to comment on the comments here...
And no one says anything about it.

Are you in favour of hospitals charging patients to park at the hospital?
Are you in favour of hospital car parks being free to use? What happens when a plumber puts his van in there all day because he is working at a house nearby? Or when he's shopping?

What happens when all two thousand patients bring a car and leave it parked for the entire duration of their stay?

The plumber in your hypothetical would park in the hospital to avoid having to pay to park in the street as they are saturated with council parking charge schemes. Think, you idiot.

These charging schemes are killing small highstreet businesses. And the worst part of all is the council have no lawful business charging the public to use public land they've already been taxed for. That is why what comes to your door is an invoice and not a debt. It's fraud. The debt doesn't exist.

Easy work arounds for that. Hospital reception can issue codes or tickets. A simple 1D or 2D bar code, charge a £1 or 2 to cover the costs not £4 an hour. The margin creamed off by the operator is the bigger issue. Its a very inefficient way to raise funds.

but hawkeye was telling us he lacks the mental capacity to cope with parking charges when visiting a hospital.

How could he cope with a coded ticket?

He hasn't told us if he wants hospital car parks to be free to use.

They actually allow them to flourish. Internet shopping is killing the high street and is far more damaging than restricted parking.

Nowt to do with hospital car park charges though boyo.

What is your solution to an alternative? You seem strangely silent on this one.

I have to say when you compare say France to the UK, their "councils" have a totally different attitude to parking charges. Most provide free parking as a service to their residents and to encourage tourism. Even the major tourist attractions have very reasonably priced car parks. In France a motorhome stopover with no toilet emptying facility or water tap would be completely free. Many free sites even provide these via a coin operated machine. £5 per night, I'd definitely be expecting loo emptying facility, a bin and a water tap. At the end of the day, plenty of pubs are part of the motorhome stopover scheme (free for customers) and you can happily park on the street for free if you want as parking restrictions are normally 8AM to 6PM.

In the UK, I'd be OK with the £5er, but you can guarantee that folk will empty their grey water at the very least if you don't provide a facility.
