That will be a big sign!@Wyre if you are changing the sign, you should think about defining what a "Motorhome" is too.

No difference in paying for a mars bar as paying for parking. I need petrol in my car as much as I need to have somewhere to park. I'm not going to suddenly expect to be exempted form all charges because my family are sick. I will continue to pay my way.
Car parking charges?
And the text in the bottom left allows them to change their convenience charge whenever they like.
I use that Shell app quite often. Never on the forecourt though, you do it all from inside the car before you even start pumping fuel....Its the same at the petrol pump, it wasn't that long ago they were saying you would explode in to flames if you used your phone on the forecourt, now they've removed the pay at pump and replaced them with pay by phone app.
Is that why you are struggling to think of an alternative to car parking charges.Brainless
I would use previous experience and know EXACTLY what is expected when I visit the hospital car park. I would not expect to be exempt now that I'm visiting a sick child as opposed to having some routine physio. If you were visiting a terminally ill person, i.e your child, would you have the mentality at that time to deal with a load of spare change and confusing scribbles ?
Are you in favour of hospital car parks being free to use? What happens when a plumber puts his van in there all day because he is working at a house nearby? Or when he's shopping? Are you in favour of hospitals charging patients to park at the hospital?

What happens when all two thousand patients bring a car and leave it parked for the entire duration of their stay?

Easy work arounds for that. Hospital reception can issue codes or tickets. A simple 1D or 2D bar code, charge a £1 or 2 to cover the costs not £4 an hour. The margin creamed off by the operator is the bigger issue. Its a very inefficient way to raise funds.
They actually allow them to flourish. Internet shopping is killing the high street and is far more damaging than restricted parking. These charging schemes are killing small highstreet businesses
