If these people that do not like the burka, etc, are perfectly content in the presence of nuns, then their "discomfort" must be pure prejudice.

That is incorrect

A nun does not wear a full face veil.

the outfit is a part of being a nun,

a burka is not part of being religious, religion is used as the reason by men to subjugate women

the protection from sun issue is a red herring as men don't wear them.

Women in Syria have burnt their burkas once they were released from the oppression of ISIS.

therefore it is not prejudice to feel discomfort in the presence of a woman wearing a burka if that is perceived as oppression.

Who's going to forcibly remove it .
A 28-year-old woman wearing a niqab on Friday became the first person in Denmark to be fined for violating a new law banning full-face Islamic veils in public places, media reported.
Police were called to a shopping centre in Horsholm, in the north-eastern region of Nordsjaelland, where the woman had become involved in a scuffle with another woman who had tried to tear her niqab off, police duty officer David Borchersen told the Ritzau news agency.

The assailant it would appear was let off scot-free.
It would appear that people feel emboldened to assault others by a ban.

A nun does not wear a full face veil.
If she did you would have grown up with it and accept it as normal.

the outfit is a part of being a nun, a burka is not part of being religious,
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

religion is used as the reason by men to subjugate women
According to you, one of the biggest fabricators of nonsense on the forum.
Religion, according to lots on here is used to subjugate the masses, not just women.
The "majority of the women who wear the burka" she says, are born and brought up in Britain. They are "educated in this country, they've been to colleges, universities, and have understood why they want to do what they're doing," she told BBC Radio 5 Live.

the protection from sun issue is a red herring as men don't wear them.
Both you and mightygob have missed the point, despite my categorical "the original and real reason is lost in the mist of time".
Many (most) religious requirements are no longer required for the original reason. They have been adopted by the religion to differentiate the followers of that religion.
I have never seen men wearing the full body protection worn by women in south Asia either. In fact the men usually wear t-shirt and shorts.

Women in Syria have burnt their burkas once they were released from the oppression of ISIS.
Women have burnt their bras also.

therefore it is not prejudice to feel discomfort in the presence of a woman wearing a burka if that is perceived as oppression.
So now you feel enfeebled in the presence of Muslim women because you think they are oppressed?:LOL::LOL:

It is just another excuse to practise Islamophobia.
It was slaughter of animals until the racist were informed that Jews do that also. So the racist had to think again for a reason to practise their Islamophobia. When this little saga has blown over, the racist will find another excuse to practise their Islamophobia.

It is the same with all racism, there is always an excuse to criticise, ridicule, hate or fear the foreigner.

Women have burnt their bras also.
What an utterly awful comparison. Burning the bra v burning the burka after being oppressed by ISIS, people who would've witnessed others being stoned to death, chucked off buildings for trivial 'crimes', watching family members be murdered etc.

Be careful your need to defend the burka doesn't trivialise what people went through and are still going through.

Where is this thing you talk about animal slaughter being the cause of racism? Are you confusing people not liking certain practices of religions as racism? I think you are.
Not liking the burka isn't racist.

f she did you would have grown up with it and accept it as normal.
Wannabe approves of women accepting oppression, he says they should 'accept it as normal'

"the original and real reason is lost in the mist of time"

So you agree, women have been oppressed by the burka since the mist of time.

What an apalling length of time for women to only see the outdoors through a black cloth. How terrible the you approve of such practice.

So now you feel enfeebled in the presence of Muslim women because you think they are oppressed
Where did I say enfeebled?
Clearly you lack any empathy towards other people, as you are perfectly happy to walk along a street with your face visible and nothing covering your eyes, whilst women walk by with a black cloth over their head.
What an insensitive person you. It surprises that you care so little for others.

Women have burnt their bras also.
You might want to reconsider the intellect surrounding that comparison. Perhaps you might be able share your reasoning

t is just another excuse to practise Islamophobia
No, its just another excuse for you to practice virtue signalling.

My younger sister lives and works in Oman. A very strange place with even stranger laws. If she is driving her car and is involved in an accident with an Omani subject, she is immediately to blame. If an Omani driver pulled out of a junction and crashed into the side of her car, she is to blame (Omani law) She's not allowed to hold hands with her husband in public, far less show any affection towards him. Smoking in public is banned (even though cigarettes can be sold legally in the shops).

The taliban did as far as I know.
Very oppressive nutters. Women had to get permission from the man to leave the house. I think men too were jailed if beards not long enough..
