New boiler and no gas supply to cooker

To be fair how many times had your dad seen the light of day?

Since I've had heated windscreens, mine only comes out when the new one arrives to replace it. :D
I think I've been asked for it once  but people should ask

Anyone considered that the regulator is faulty, and not opening up to meet demand?
Could occur after install if it was on its last legs.

Sounds like you do not have enough gas supply “for whatever reason” to supply boiler and oven.

If you can’t get the installer back in time as above, contact a local installer. Do a bit of research and make sure they are Gas Safe registered.

If they do work to rectify ask for a report detailing the reason/s why they have done the work.

@kdot get an rgi out to assess what's going on. This is your priority. And, check up on your installers credentials to make sure he is legit. If not, you don't want him back.

You can't afford NOT to have this situation professionally appraised. If your cooker/hob has FFDs you will have protection... BUT... you won't know that, hence get someone out. In the meantime, switch boiler off if using hob.

Thank you!! I shall do this xx

You need to get somebody in to look at it, but my guess is the combi replaced a non-combi. Combis are usually rated over 2x the power output needed for heating the house, due to the instantaneous hot water requirement. That means higher gas flow and the original pipework might be too small.

The most likely reason for this happening is inappropriate pipe sizes used for your gas supply

The pipes may have been badly sized before the installation but your engineer should have checked and changed accordingly.

Unfortunately most gas engineers do not put pen to paper and work out the right sized pipes for your system.. I'd say 90% of them don't and 95% of the time they will get away with it.

Report him to gas safe if I were you. Also why aren't you taking a picture of the boiler manual as you've been asked many times?

Was this a DIY install? Be honest!

Where are you getting these statistics!
Utter bowlocks!
Gas pipe sizing is part of the job and is the first thing that an Rgi checks at appraisal.
Commissioning procedures also prove/disprove correct operation of all additional gas appliances on a new install.
Regardless, two things need checking soon as... installers credentials and installation.

OP, do please update us as to outcome

and a photo of the benchmark/commissioning certificate would be very welcome.

It's called real life experience. No one can work out gas pipe sizing without putting pen to paper; now if you believe that most RGI's do the arithmetic for every install then either you are beyond naive OR you are one of the cowboys that believe you can determine if the pipes are appropriately sized by just looking at them. I suspect you are the latter.

You're the guy who was arguing that a power flush is required for a warranty! You scarpered pretty quickly in that thread when I proved you were talking bo11ox. I see your knowledge of gas pipe sizing is also below par.

Sorry, truth hurts.

AS for the OP; 'she' has obviously done one... apparently 'she' was so worried `she` was posting here at midnight and now has disappeared without a sight after 'she' was rumbled.

Was obviously a cowboy diy install; 'she' maybe paid for it.. but the work was done by a bad diy-er.
