What do folk think about this?

If the ice continues to melt and our oceans and seas continue to get polluted our world will change immeasurably.

Do you think we will die out as a consequence? Or maybe suffer a massive depopulation?

And if so, what will happen next?

I think I read a credible scientific opinion that the world will happily heal itself in about 100 years. Without our help!

About 1000 years and all visible traces of human beings is gone. Archaeological evidence is left only.

It's the Fermi paradox isn't it? The universe is stuffed to the brim of planets that can sustain life. Some by chance should be kuch more evolved than us, but we hear nothing on the airwaves, so 2 reasons, we truly are on our own, which is vanishingly unlikely, or advanced civilisations (I use the word guardedly) Rise and fail in a short time span. If the latter is true, we're probably on borrowed time now.

We would only have heard if they are nearer in light years than the number of years we have been listening.

No much more advanced, I.e been a civilisation for a billion plus years. Would they not be constantly transmitting, it's disturbingly quiet out there.

I got it the wrong way round.

They wouldn't hear us if outside the light year and time period.

Intelligent life, even on earth, does not require radio,

Even in the last hundred years, the number of humans with a transmitter capable of being detected a million miles away is so small as to be negligible.

Intelligent life, and advanced civilisations, even on earth, need not even have discovered glass to make telescopes.

Indeed, only been advertising our presence for just over a hundred years, and we're already staring down the barrel. Not good!

Huh?
