It's called history and history is very important, that is why it is taught in schools. If you don't know where you came from, how can you possibly know where you are going? Understanding history, helps us avoid the mistakes of the past.

So who sets the history syllabus?

Nobody is disputing what you say.
My comments refer to issues that have been learnt from, and where possible any effects have been compensated.
That is true of the WW.
It is not true of slavery and its effects on society today. Indeed the effects on society, and sections of society are denied.
So while your comments ought to teach society to correct the mistakes of the past, if possible, if those mistakes are denied, they cannot be corrected.
