Prices Rise 80%

We should do about what the French have done. Sort the costs from the top.
But who ends up paying?

The profiteering companies or the general public?

If you didn't already know, by whatever means it is the latter!

Was reading that the French Energy Minister has said through winter, the costs will have to increase, as their cap is not sustainable as it is.

Yes, but individuals and companies don't go bankrupt hungry and sick while it's dealt with.

Reports say the French gov told EDF what to charge. Seems gas is plus 8%. I believe they still have a fair amount of nuke as they went that way early on. They could subsidise EDF which is state owned anyway.

UK has other problems. Reserves really run down rather than being maintained. Saved on maintenance costs. I heard 1% storage whereas typical is 25%. That means we need to buy in a hurry. Not sure if we have shut any nuke stations but it was mentioned. We have had problems getting them built again. It looked like Japan would then dropped out - not enough money in it was mentioned. Took a long time for EDF to start but that is probably down to finding finance. Sounds like we have enough for another now. It appears rely on institution type investments coming along.

Seems Germans are having to pay ~25% more. No info on why and how etc.

We have a big bed and will now buy a nice new big TV to sit on the wall facing our bed. We will all watch TV during the cold months in bed. Whilst hot water bottles heat up my girls beds for when its bed time ⏲️. Will buy thermals for my girls. The dogs and cat will be fine.

I may also stick in a wood stove in the living room.

Set up an outside utility room in the wooden shed that was my office. So clothes will dry out there.

My monthly dual fuel bill has already risen to 315 sovs.

Does that mean it'll rise again in October to 567 quid?

..and more in Jan. Luckily my supplier bamboozled me into a 2 year fix. Question is, will my bitcoin mining engine earn more than the cost of leccy power it uses? It gets nice and warm, but at night.

Well done Tory voters, Brexiteers and War with Russia war mongors.

How on earth are millions going to afford to pay £3'500 a year on energy bills?
They're not.
People will freeze, some will starve, some will be made homeless.

That tends to happen in Winter anyway, it shouldn't in a civilised society, but it does, regardless of which party is in power. The Govt are faced with a binary choice, they either help people or they don't, my guess is they will soften the blow with more govt borrowing as they did with covid.

The alternative is civil unrest.

In addition, UK householders and industry are heavier users of gas than their European counterparts, who are more reliant on electricity.

There was a report that wood is selling rapidly in Poland. Also at the price it is pensioners can't afford it.

I'm trying to educate myself on what woods can burn and what shouldn't burn.

I get alot of wood from jobs. Floor boards and stud work. Maybe wrong. Laural trees in my garden thst constantly need cutting down. + a wood behind me.. all maybe wrong
