a friend of mine was declared brain dead family gave permission for organ harvest . So around 12 hours later Wheeled down to surgery family said their goodbyes at operating theatre doors and were told they would be informed in the morning exact time of death when everything turned off .
Never heard anything in the morning left it a while before phoning and were told she is alive still and back up in the ward unattached to machines she actually died around 36 hours later after being disconnected from life support

Hearts can do that I think. Funny muscle. Did you know that if you put a mass of shredded up rat's heart in a petri dish with nutrient, first you notice twitching. If you leave it alone, it'll be pulsing together as one, all by itself. Spooky.

My son and his lady had that experience with a baby a couple of weeks ago. If I remember correctly the baby took ~16hr to die. It had been on drugs and life support for nearly a week. One of them held the baby all of the time.
