What have you been doing today?

Yesterday rather than today, but I finally reached my target of running a 10km race in less than 50 mins.

I achieved 49:27 in the Mersey 10k (which included running through the Mersey tunnel - so about 3km up and down a fairly steep incline).

Feeling’ the burn :D

At Mrs Motties insistence I took our dog to the vets as she has lost most of her hearing lately. Mrs Mottie was hoping it could be blocked ears but apart from a bit of wax in one of them, there was no simple cure. Old age has caught up with her and she is just losing it. I came away with some ear cleaner and £82 lighter in my pocket.

Cut the grass in the garden and took the clippings over the lotty to add to my compost bins. Used to have a green waste bin emptied by the council every fortnight but it’s gone up to £70 this year so that’s going back and I’m composting it myself. Watered my seedlings - coming along fine - I’ve got half in my own greenhouse and the other half in the communal polytunnel.

Harvested two asparagus spears and a handful of chives - I’ll make something for breakfast with them tomorrow - I’ll put it in my popular breakfast thread. The original 'what are you eating for…..' thread that’s been poorly copied lately by quite a few others. The original and the best! ;)

My sympathy - that is young to begin so many suffering issues.

I gave the car it's preliminary wash - I give it another wash once it dries and I can see where I missed. It's a black sparkle paint, it shows the muck when it's dry, but the muck disappears completely when it's wet. Then I attacked it with the vac, followed by one of those sticky rollers to collect the dog hair.

Still a nice day after linner, so I decided to trim the dog's fur some more, outside in the fresh air. I gave up, when a visual migraine [1] came on, and decided to go for a bath followed by the dog. She always follows me and usually waits at the side of the bath, until I make noises of getting out, then she disappears down the stairs at high speed, rather than risk an invite for her to jump in. This time, I insisted she wait, and get in for a soak, as I got out.

[1] Not had one of these, for at least 3 years. I get wiggly lines appear in my vision, it becomes rather like looking through agitated water. It used to progress, to my straight ahead vision not working, only seeing in the periphery, but not this time. It went as soon as I relaxed.

I investigated cutting the grass, but the soil was still to wet for the tractor. The tractor wheels would have churned the grass up, so left for a less wet day.

Went to dentist for a tooth out, she had a poke around and X rayed it, come back Thursday for the extraction??

Having booked car in for

- intermediate service
- MOT
-replace battery

a couple of weeks ago, I attended the garage, for a "while you wait" appointment.
Don't bother with the wash and vac, I told them upon booking in, as I did it yesterday, and don't want to wait half an hour longer than I have to. And I'll pay on credit card.

Three hours later, informed car has had service, passed MOT, but they have no batteries, so I'll have to book in again.

Told them they were a shower.

After another thirty minutes, came back to tell me that they couldn't put the work through on the account, and could I pay on credit card
But not much longer now, because they're washing and vacc'ing it........

Then, went to pay, and the bloke asked if I could pop back tomorrow, because they'd found a battery..........

The struggle is real........

Good for you, but watch out for your knees, too many leave it too long before they wind it down.

Sounds like a sub-department of the NHS.

I used to like doing those two jobs together. Got paid twice for doing something once! Apart from the oil and filter change, the mot covers all checks (and more) in a service - lights, brakes, tyres, steering and suspension, exhaust, seat belts, washers, wipers, drivers view etc etc. Next time, just have a mot and an oil change. ;)

Thanks, my knees were already gone before I started running to be honest…had my ACL replaced in my right knee after snapping it playing badminton and I think my other is on the way out.

The knee braces I have offer very good support, I would highly recommend them.

Watch it! When I first got arthritis I went to a class thing to learn exercises with rubber bands and whatnot. About a third of the people there looked whippet fit, but all had buggered knees from doing sports all their lives. They were all pretty sick at the coaches and fitness trainers!
I go to a group now - you may be surprised how many quite young folk have decided that they need a wheelchair.

I was at the maternity hospital today. My youngest daughter had a wee girl. It's my wedding aniversary and my sister's birthday too.
Congratulations. (y)

Mrs Motties birthday is July 14th. Her little brothers birthday is July 14th. (Although he always forgets her birthday!). Their Nan's birthday was July 14th. Our son was due on July 14th but the lazy late fecker didn’t show his face until the 19th.

Tomorrow is the day my dad died. My eldest sister died on that day too, only years later.

Had breakfast at 'Spoons. Couple of tables away some female students were discussing the de-colonising their university evening they had been to recently. As this particular 'Spoons is right opposite the main building of Bristol University, it's a fair bet that it is their seat of learning/brainwashing. I felt like asking these ever so right-on ladies how they could live with themselves studying at a university that exists thanks to the generosity of The Wills family aka WD&HO Wills. In other words built on the profits of the tobacco industry and poss links to slavery. Or that the comfortable lifestyle they enjoy today is partly thanks to the forward thinking and risks taken by previous, generations who used part of their wealth for the betterment of British people and society. I didn't want to tax them with anything incovenient like facts or question their hypocrisy. So I left it. No point troubling their pretty little heads with such details.
