Watch your council tax shoot up now because of that repair. Not that the tie wrap costs anything. But a highways electrician doesn’t come cheap.

Wouldn't surprise meWatch your council tax shoot up now because of that repair. Not that the tie wrap costs anything. But a highways electrician doesn’t come cheap.

Yep Bristol was the last one left and also the last to return from the Falklands after the Argentine surrender. HMS Appollo was a Leander class frigate of which their were loads all named after greek gods and at one time were the backbone of the navy. We had 2 virtually on permanent standby as channel emergency ship in case the ruskies wanted to test our resolve. I served on HMS Berwick which was a Rothesay class frigate with a similar type of machinery.I've just done a Google search. It says HMS Bristol is the last ship to have served in the Falklands. I've only ever been aboard one in service Navy vessel. A frigate called HMS Apollo, which was moored off Scarborough in the late 70s.

The latest systems are impressive. Even in my day the seawolf system could knock a 4.5 inch shell out of the sky!I remember HMS Apollo had a helicopter pad, and they told us the main gun could hit an area the size of a tennis court more than ten miles away. Also a SeaCat missile system for defence, which sounded very impressive, but I believe I read years later that it wasn't actually very useful.
I enjoyed the rum, bum and baccy, but mostly the rum and baccy lol .Served at Raleigh, Sultan and Dolphin at one time or another and lived round the corner from Daedalus. We could hear their bugler playing sunset most nights.Good to know I'm not the only one who saw active service in the senior service. I was a decorated hero in the combined cadet force at school.
Seriously though, I wanted to join - if only for the rum, sodomy and lash. Unfotunately I'm too colour blind (no, not that type of colour blind, liberals). Enjoyed my training at the various bases though (Daedalus, Raleigh, Sultan, Dolphin, etc).

OMG, what's UPF?Highwayman
Not sure how old you are, but the amount of UPF you eat, you will regret it in later years.
Not trying to be a killjoy, trying to offer friendly advice!

Oh I see. It is only pot noodles that I eat that is processed, but I take your point and will cut back on your advice.Ultra Processed Food.
