And as we all know, high temperatures are lethal. Red seems appropriate.the colour red is also used for danger as well as temperature.

I wonder how they show it in a hot country like the USA or Australia. I will have to have a look at some point.
First-born has been living in Sydney since feb, and he says he spends a lot of time in hoodies.

They aren't a thing. The MET office have standards for all weather stations, facing north etc. It's also why record temps take a long time to verify, undue influences are checked. Now do the RAF base one, tell me that heat islands are not a thing
Barack Obama's house is 4 metres above sea level
well that is part of my point-- google the hottest recorded and it comes up with Coningsby no mention of raf Coningsby literally acers of tarmac and concrete even if the temp station is on the grass it will still be influenced by the concrete heat island effect - feel scammed yet?I would be interested to hear what the Met Office have to say about that. Are we sure the exact location shown on the sceptics websites is correct. If it is a potential problem, there seems to be plenty of green areas they could have used instead on the base.
What do you care about itAnd as we all know, high temperatures are lethal. Red seems appropriate.
I'm as vulnerable to extremes of heat as the next bloke, having had a cancerous growth removed from my snozz. I also work outdoors a lot, so I applaud the good folk down at the Met Office when they put out extreme weather warnings. What do you care about it
Aveatry please could you talk us through the “urban heat island effect” on these weather station locations…..like St James Park which recorded a temp of 40.2c just 0.1c less than than the “urban heat island” temps you don’t like at Coninsbury. You have excelled yourself this time - even notch agrees that heat islands are a thing -- I know you are scared of it -espicually when you think it might contradict you but have a google of heat islands and the effect on temperature
Good point, thank you for bringing up Americas ongoing social problem with racial residential segregation. And how many metres from the hood?![]()

No it isn't, I've already explained that.even if the temp station is on the grass it will still be influenced by the concrete heat island effect
Not me.feel scammed yet?

Sounds like you gave up on diesels in the 90’s!It's all about personal preference, I suppose. Modern diesels are fast and brutally effective, but for me they just aren't nice to drive, especially at speed on a country road. I suppose it depends on what you want from driving. I like all the sensations. I never have the radio on when I am driving for fun on a country road. I have always loved the sound and feel and response of a naturally aspirated petrol engine. Diesels sound awful and they are just not enjoyable to rev.
Fek me! I agree with @noseallWhich does not add up to this nonsense....
Or this blather....
WTF?
