It's all about personal preference, I suppose. Modern diesels are fast and brutally effective, but for me they just aren't nice to drive, especially at speed on a country road. I suppose it depends on what you want from driving. I like all the sensations. I never have the radio on when I am driving for fun on a country road. I have always loved the sound and feel and response of a naturally aspirated petrol engine. Diesels sound awful and they are just not enjoyable to rev.

You can have a Reliant Kitten, then.

If those trees had been grown as a fuel source on land that currently wasn't sequestering CO2, then it might all balance out.

But if they are cutting down virgin forests full of trees which have been soaking up CO2 for hundreds of years, then that creates a carbon debt. In the medium term we will have increased the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.

It is very complex.

Wood pellet biomass produces two and a half times more carbon dioxide for the same amount of energy produced as natural gas. Also, I would imagine it produces particulates and other pollutants. Trying to understand the benefits is complicated and difficult. In the medium term, by which I mean at least fifty years but probably more like a hundred, it will raise the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
