Easing of Rules

Or simply growing a pair. There's an alarming number of people (I know several so I assume most people know of some) that will never return to work, will self isolate on a whim and likely spend the rest of their days watching daytime tv with a mask on.
It's time to get on with life.

I've never met or know anybody like that.

Most people want to work.

There are always a tiny minority who don't.

evidence is many sport divers cannot continue if they catch the virus

My niece works in NHS as radiographer, she has spent a lot of time doing CT scans of Covid patients - in the early days when tests were scarce, it was used to diagnose.

Covid causes pneumonia spots on the lungs - the damage is quite unique to Covid and it leaves scarring.

I can see how that would leave a lung weakness that would impair diving.

It must be a worry for you.

and yet you cant tell us how the risk of side effects from the vaccine compare to the risk of covid

nor can you say how long you think you need to wait.
nor can you say how many people should die of covid in the meantime
I've answered those questions multiple times...

Could it be that the covid jab has affected your memory?

With cases rising throughout the UK, Johnson's thoughtless cancellation of the rules is looking increasingly stupid.

Look on the bright side, he's never fulfilled a promise in his life, so he will have no problem backing down when the bodies pile up.

"Realistic or reckless? Cases of coronavirus are doubling every 10 days in England and hospital admissions have risen more than 50 per cent in the past week alone. Yet with 65 per cent of the adult population double vaccinated against the virus the government is set to lift restrictions, from social distancing to mask wearing, in a bid to restore normality.

It would make England the first country to lift restrictions in the face of exponentially rising Covid-19 cases and the decision has divided the country with some scientists suggesting it threatens the health of many thousands of people."

"Yet many scientists and health experts have angrily challenged the government’s argument. “The world is looking at us with disbelief — a country with some of the best universities and minds acting with arrogance, yet again underestimating our adversary,” says Ravi Gupta, professor of clinical microbiology at Cambridge university.

That view is echoed by Isabella Eckerle, professor of virology at the University of Geneva. Eckerle is one of 122 scientists and doctors from the UK and overseas who signed a letter in The Lancet condemning the government’s “dangerous and premature reopening plans”. She says: “The decision can only serve as a warning negative example for other European countries.” “Despite a seasonal benefit, infections are already on the rise with the new Delta variant in many countries,” Eckerle adds. “It is a dangerous and irresponsible situation to fully open now, and accept high infection rates in young age groups and especially children.”

"With new cases running above 30,000 a day in the UK — 15 times higher than at the beginning of May — Javid said this week that the daily rate could rise to 100,000 this summer.

Vaccination has cut the overall mortality rate from around 0.8 per cent last year to 0.1 per cent now but 100,000 cases are likely to cause around 3,000 hospital admissions and 100 deaths a day.

The proposed end of compulsory mask wearing on public transport and in crowded indoor spaces has attracted the strongest criticism. “It defies logic and it’s criminal frankly,” Gupta says. “There will be unnecessary deaths as a direct result of that.”

So much talk of cowardice from jab heroes. However I know plenty of double-jabbed who are still hiding behind the settee. I was sitting in my near deserted local the other night and their absence was obvious. What exactly are they waiting for? Two jabs and still no balls grown.

There are always a tiny minority who don't.

My wife's currently advertising for staff, after four weeks she'd expect to be holding 30 to 40 CV's, she's had three applications. Same several months ago, and in an area where jobs are scarce. Either people are afraid to return to work, or are still receiving furlough and see little point in working, something's amiss, exactly what we're not sure.

Last weekend we had family visiting so we spent time at their hotel and a number of restaurants. The larger establishments tend to rely on immigrants and there was no shortage of immigrant labour that I could see, the shortage in hospitality seems to be with UK staff.

The hospitality biz has got harder because of covid restrictions and the labour shortage means the one's still working are often doing double shifts.
I really do believe that large numbers of people have been conditioned not to work because of lockdown and just want the restrictions to run and run, you only have to look at some posters on here who have overnight become expert epidemiologists and pontificate about the dangers of not isolating or returning to work before another year passes us by.

I took 3 months off in the 1st lockdown, built a small timber frame extension, built a large decking area and knocked out a wall to model a new kitchen diner, if I hadn't done that, I'd have made myself ill with worry or anxiety. Thankfully for us, normality resumed and we went back to work, for others, 18 months on, normality hasn't resumed and for many I doubt it ever will.

Listen Notch, I'm not saying these people are bone idle and don't want to work (obviously a minority are) but there are mental health issues around returning to work and we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg at the moment.

Some of them sponge off the taxpayer and spend their days walking the dog.

They may never become productive members of society.

Or they could spend their days driving from Scotland to London and back or while away the hours on the internet discussing the merits of men pretending to be women, who knows John?, we're all different.

Keep up the good work on the men dressed as women thread though.(y)

Ah, you mean like in mottie's fantasy story.

Maybe some have genuinely realised that they want to work to live, not live to work?
Many people, after retirement find themselves with too much to do and not enough time to do it.
The well worn phrase is, "I don't know how I found the time to go to work."
