I really don't know as never noticed them before, every house on this road had one. I couldn't see anyone to ask, a lot of women were staring at me through their windows but I didn't like to shout and ask.

doubt it, they look the same bricks as the houses so they were part of the building, I think sheep or pigs may have been kept as there wasn't supermarkets back then.
