I think the proverbial might hit the fan before that, unless there is a deal (read 'capitulation' by UK negotiators) before then.

I appreciate the comments about it being a UK wide referendum, but we are now talking about different and difficult situations to be overcome. Situations that were not envisaged when the referendum was designed.
Why would anyone refuse to "go back to the drawing board" if the current process is not providing the desired outcome.

Of course the EU were going to come back with that.
They dont want a solution. What they want is for the UK to remain in the EU because it pays the 2nd highest subs. You wouldnt want to lose your 2nd most important customer would you? Especially if take the money and then dictate whatever terms you want to.
